Camping
at Tai Tam Scout Centre
(27
- 29 December 1997)
10
Scouts and 2 Venture Scouts attended our camp at Tai Tam Scout Centre.
This was the first camping experience for a few Scouts who joined us
this year. Mascot Thunder, our visitor, also attended our camp before
leaving Hong Kong for her next destination.
On
the first day, we pitched our tents and constructed some camp gadgets
- we made three tables out of bamboo that we brought along, two clothes
racks for our uniforms, a flag pole and our camp site entrance. In the
evening we had a BBQ.
The
next day we got up and cooked our breakfast and went straight into pioneering.
We constructed an aerial runway and an observation tower (see photo)
before lunch. In the afternoon we went out on a couple of pulling
boats to do fishing. We did not catch many fish (only 3) but we had
a good time on the boat in the sun. We had pork chops, fish, vegetables
and rice for dinner which the Scouts cooked themselves. Before the official
lights out time, everyone was sound asleep!
We only
had half a day on the third day. After having finished breakfast, we
made a water filter mostly out of natural materials. Tidying up the
camp site was quick compared to building the camp site. We left after
lunch with a lot of good memories.
